Under our Constitution and according to our laws, the federal government rules the territories. One quick example is the blocking of the Northern Territory-proposed Euthanasia legislation by the Howard govt. Since the federal government DOES rule the territories, our Prime Minister could at any time and with the stroke of his pen apply the same simple restrictions on X-Rated porn in the territories as already exists in each one of our states. Try to wrap your mind around this: in Australia, because of the harm caused by X-Rated porn, it is illegal to sell, hire or display ANY X-Rated DVDs or videos in ANY state. They are, however, freely available in our two territories, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and the Northern Territory (NT). Make sense?
Also the damage caused is so severe that NO porn at all is allowed into Aboriginal reserves!!! Thanks solely to our lobbying and the help of our supporters, X-Rated porn is banned from ALL Pay TV in Australia, because of the proven harm. There is nothing good in porn, nothing at all.
Since the POSSESSION of X-Rated porn is not illegal and due to the successful lobbying of the 22 people in Australia’s porn ‘industry’ - all the ‘industry’ does is copy American smut videos (after all, America ‘does everything best’) - every Australian can order them from the territories. They are then advertised in the backs of ALL the smut magazines, like Penthouse, which we then sell to our children.
So remember, in their wisdom, the ‘govt’ has banned X-Rated DVDs in ALL of our states yet allows them to be freely available from our territories. A good example of ‘govt’ wisdom. But remember, the ‘govt’ is only there to protect and serve us. (?!)
