Australian youth church attendance up. What next?

The media is abuzz with statistics of Australian youth attending church in unprecedented numbers.

Here we have a group of people that puzzle the world and are bucking the trends of materialism and selfishness, turning instead to spiritual values and community.  Why, then do we hear so little from this group on issues such as abortion, pornography, prostitution, politics or indeed anything of weight?

There is a huge group of Christian youth who mean well, have good brains and don’t like what is going on around them (and I count myself among them).  However, on the whole we are not being encouraged and equipped to be the stinging salt and burning light that God has told us to be.

I am a full-time musician.  I’m not a lobbyist by nature; I struggle to understand the political system.  How can I find both the time and up-to-date, reliable information to really make a difference in this country, this world?

On my own, it’s daunting.  But how about in unity with 99,999 others?

The Australian Federation for the Family is launching the ministry 100,000 Youth.  This is an electronic ministry, keeping costs to the minimum and impact to the maximum.  This means that youth can quickly access news, information and tactics through the medium of communication they use most – the Internet.

Membership is free.   In return for just signing up your name and email address, you receive updates on important issues along with quick and simple directions on how to make your voice count for something.  There will also be web-based discussion on timely topics, provoking youth to act and reason biblically.

post election syndrome
what did we learn from the elections?

did we find that Christian political involvement means going along to vote and praying that you'll put the right numbers next to the right names? [who are these people?]

and [whew] now that it's over we won't have to feel convicted about not knowing anything about the Australian political system for a couple more years at least.

or did we begin to think that maybe we were supposed to find out a bit more than we did?  did we begin to think?

does a Christian necessarily make a good pollie?

So...why does 100KY have an email list and why should I be on it?

Sometimes we've felt like Elijah.  (I Kings 19) You know the feeling.  Wondering where the other 99,999 are.

100,000 is alot of people.  There are things happening in Australia that 100,000 people can change.  Just by sending an email.

We can let you know when things come up that can be changed that way. They don't come up every day.

You can let the other 99,999 know if you come across something first.
